Insurance and Payment FAQ's
Do you accept insurance?
We are in-network providers for several different insurance companies and use third-party billers such as The Lactation Network to provide in-network services for other insurance carriers. Give us a call, and we can advise you based on your insurance provider and the services in which you are interested.
With which insurance providers are you in-network?
We are in-network providers for most Cigna and UHC plans. We will verify your particular plan prior to scheduling an appointment, so you know what your plan covers.
What insurance providers are accepted through The Lactation Network?
We use The Lactation Network, a third-party billing company, to bill insurance providers that are not in our network. This allows us to provide you with in-network care with providers such as Aetna, Community Health Options CHO, Curative Health, First Choice Health, Imagine Health, Meritain, Multiplan, PNOA, Sutter Health, UHC-UMR, VA-CCN Optum East, and Velocity PPO.
Do you take Tricare for military families?
We currently accept Tricare Select.
Are there major insurance providers that you don’t you accept?
We currently don’t accept BCBS, Medicaid, Oscar, or EPO plans.
If you don’t take our insurance, do you have a self-pay option?
Yes, we do have self-pay rates for all the services we provide. Those rates are listed in the corresponding sections of our website. You can also give us a call. We will be happy to discuss your options.
What services are covered by insurance?
Only our lactation services are covered by insurance at this time. Our placenta encapsulation and night nursing are both self-pay.
What form of payments do you accept for self-pay services?
We can process payments through bank accounts, credit cards, and HSA accounts.
How are services billed?
All self-pay payments are processed through QuickBooks. Following a self-pay lactation consultation in your home, our consultants will process your payment electronically. You will receive an invoice for placenta encapsulation and night nursing services.
What if my baby has different insurance than me?
You and your baby are both being treated as two individual patients during a lactation visit. If only one of you is on an insurance plan that we take, we will bill the insurance for that individual and bill you $75 per hour for the other.
